Africa’s Electric Vehicle Revolution Gains Momentum as Nigeria and Kenya Lead the Way

Africa’s automotive industry is entering a transformative phase, as Nigeria and Kenya accelerate the shift toward electric vehicles (EVs) through local assembly and innovative mobility solutions.

Local Assembly Driving Africa’s Automotive Growth

In Nigeria, automotive company Saglev has begun assembling electric passenger vans locally, using imported kits from global manufacturers. The company plans to scale production to thousands of units annually, with ambitions to introduce multiple EV models across West Africa. 

Similarly, in Kenya, Rideence Africa has partnered with local manufacturers to establish the country’s first dedicated electric vehicle assembly line, backed by multi-million-dollar investment.
