Made-in-Nigeria Drive as FG Rallies Support for Indigenous Car Manufacturers
On Nigeria’s 65th Independence Day, Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Dr. Jumoke Oduwole, publicly pledged her endorsement of the Nord automobile brand and urged both government agencies and the private sector to purchase Made-in-Nigeria products.
Dr. Oduwole visited the Nord assembly facility at the University of Lagos to take delivery of her own Nord Demir SUV. During her tour, she lauded the capacity of the company’s plants, in Lagos and Epe, and encouraged them to scale up production to meet domestic demand.
Addressing attendees, she remarked: “With the African Continental Free Trade Agreement, you should be able to extend your industrial base across Nigeria. You have two assembly plants here and at Epe, and your capacity is more than enough to meet Nigerians’ growing demand.”
She also highlighted that some of Nigeria’s leading publicly traded firms are already clients, and pledged her ministry’s commitment to bolstering the sector, saying the president has made “Nigeria First” a priority.
Mr. Oluwatobi Ajayi, Chairman of Nord Automobiles, expressed gratitude to the minister for her support. He noted that having her as a customer enhances the company’s credibility, saying she would always be someone he could point to as proof of confidence in the brand.
