Nigeria's Airport Shuttle System Transformed by Lanre Shittu CNG Buses

The Federal Government of Nigeria has initiated the deployment of 100% Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) buses, branded by Lanre Shittu Motors (LSM), to serve as passenger shuttles at the nation's airports. The fleet has been received at Murtala Muhammed Airport in Lagos by officials from the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN).

During the unveiling ceremony in Lagos, Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Management, Festus Keyamo, highlighted that this initiative aligns with President Bola Tinubu's directive to reduce carbon emissions and adhere to global climate commitments. He stated, "What you see here today is a fleet of CNG buses for FAAN to commence passenger movement at all our airports immediately." The eco-friendly buses are designed with zero emissions and include accessibility features for individuals with disabilities.

Taiwo Shittu, Managing Director of Lanre Shittu Motors, detailed that the CNG buses are available in two configurations: a 31-seater model for airport shuttle services and a 54-seater model for mass transit within cities. Both models are equipped with modern amenities such as air conditioning, viewing screens, and charging stations.

This deployment is part of the Federal Government's broader efforts to mitigate the impact of fuel subsidy removal on the populace by promoting alternative, cost-effective, and environmentally friendly fuel options like CNG. The initiative reflects a commitment to sustainable development and the enhancement of public transportation infrastructure in Nigeria.
