Nord Automobiles Delivers 50 High-Capacity CNG Buses to Federal Government

The indigenous automotive manufacturer Nord Automobiles has officially handed over 50 high-capacity, compressed natural gas (CNG) city buses to the Federal Government at an event held at the company’s assembly facility in Epe, Lagos on 14 November 2025.

According to the company’s Executive Chairman, Oluwatobi Ajayi, the move aligns with the national “Nigeria First” policy and the government’s Renewed Hope agenda, which aims to boost local manufacturing while improving access to affordable and sustainable urban transport.

Each of the buses is designed to accommodate up to 60 passengers (30 seated and 30 standing) and features modern amenities including air-conditioning, in-seat phone charging ports, electronic ticketing systems, surveillance cameras, and fire-suppression systems. The vehicles were assembled at Nord’s Epe facility in Lagos, which the company says now has a production capacity of over 20,000 units annually.

Ajayi emphasised the cost-advantage of CNG buses over traditional petrol or diesel models, adding that the company also holds after-sales service capacity via its nationwide network.The buses are reportedly destined for deployment across all six geopolitical zones of Nigeria, under a national plan monitored by the relevant federal transport agencies.
