The F5 CNG OMAA Pickup Made its Debut at the Nigeria Auto Industry Conference

Competition in Nigeria’s automotive market is intensifying with the recent introduction of the OMAA F5 compressed natural gas (CNG) pickup at the Nigerian Automotive Industry Stakeholders Conference held at the Shehu Yar’Adua Centre in Abuja.

The official presentation was led by Joseph Osanipin, Director-General of the National Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC), alongside other industry stakeholders.

The F5 CNG Pickup highlights OMAA’s commitment to innovation and sustainability, featuring two engine options: a 2.7-litre engine with a five-speed manual transmission and a 2.4-litre engine with a six-speed automatic transmission. Both variants offer the choice of a 100-litre or 200-litre CNG tank.

Designed to meet both work and recreational needs, the double-cabin pickup combines a rugged exterior with a comfortable interior. It is well-suited for various federal government agencies and parastatals, running efficiently on compressed natural gas and reflecting Nigeria’s shift towards greener, more sustainable energy.

OMAA is committed to leading the CNG vehicle market, offering comprehensive after-sales services including spare parts, maintenance support, and software solutions for efficient operation.

During the conference, NADDC Director-General Joseph Osanipin emphasized, “The Nigerian automotive sector is a crucial part of our economy, driving commerce, facilitating transportation, and creating jobs. This industry is a dynamic force, deeply connected to the economic climate, technological advancements, and environmental concerns.”

George Djankah, Business Development Manager at OMAA, highlighted the company's leadership in new energy vehicles. He noted that OMAA was among the first to introduce dual-fuel vehicles in Nigeria, capable of running on both petrol and CNG.

“Our range includes CNG pickups, minibuses, and high-capacity buses for BRT or mass transit schemes. We also offer CNG and LNG trucks for logistics, with electric vehicles (EVs) in development,” Djankah said.

He further explained that the powertrain and suspension systems of the OMAA F5 have been specially calibrated to handle Nigeria’s road conditions. With a full charge, the CNG-powered vehicle can cover over 300 kilometers, offering smooth and eco-friendly performance.

Chino Ogwumike, Marketing Manager at Kojo Motors, added, “The OMAA F5 is not just a pickup but a versatile product suitable for various applications. It can serve as a personnel carrier for security agencies, a utility vehicle for construction companies, a cargo and cooling van for agriculture, or even an ambulance for healthcare.”

The OMAA F5 CNG pickup is designed for high returns on investment, featuring a modern multimedia system to keep drivers and passengers connected and entertained. It offers excellent Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) and significant fuel savings. OMAA supports the F5 with a 2-year warranty or 75,000 kilometers, whichever comes first, and provides comprehensive aftersales service with centers across Nigeria.
