Volkswagen Set To Beigin E-Tractor Manufacturing in Nigeria - Foreign Affairs Minster

German powerhouse, Volkswagen, have announced their interest in diversifying manufacturing e-tractors in Nigeria. Hon.Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, Nigeria's Minister of Foreign Affairs, disclosed the information after a meeting with the German Minster of State, Mrs Katja Keul, during the G20 Foreign Minsters Meeting last week.

The initiative is part of the efforts between Nigeria and Germany to actively strengthen economic and industrial ties between the two nations, with added focus on regional security, cultural collaboration and economic partnerships.

Volkswagen e-tractors are expected to reform Nigeria's agricultural sector by increasing productivity, output and structural logistics.

Experts argue that the growth of the country’s automotive sector hinges on the full implementation of the Nigeria Auto Industry Development Plan, which has been approved by the Federal Executive Council but has yet to be signed into law.

Last year, Nigeria sadly miss out on the opportunity to host Volkswagen's new Body Shop and Assembly Plant, as the automaker instead decided to proceed with the Egyptian Government for its manufacturing.

However, Volkswagen's return to Nigeria after decades indicates growing confidence in the countries economy after years of mismanagement. Volkswagen has established a new "Sub-Saharan" region, encompassing all countries south of the Sahara, to strengthen its presence and operations across Africa.

The project features e-tractors with swappable batteries, making sustainable farming more accessible and affordable for local farmers.
